Did you know that strawberries might help fight cancer and other health problems? A recent study out of UCLA suggests strawberries to stop the growth of cancer cells. Anthocyanins are antioxidants and give strawberries their bright red color; and researchers believe these chemicals stopped the growth of colon, prostate, and oral cancer cells. Further studies suggest that other compounds in strawberries may help with weight control. They are low in fat and calories too. Guys, you better include strawberries in your diet if you want to lose weight. It’s a good source of vitamin C and fiber.

I was craving for a rice cake ( Biko) today. I’m very disappointed since I don’t know how to cook it. I bought all the ingredients last week yet I can’t figure out how to make it. Pity me! I’ll surely look for the recipe tomorrow. I can’t wait to eat rice cake again. It’s been a year since the time I tasted it. I might forget what’s the taste of it. lol! I still recall when I was in the Philippines- we used to buy different snacks (kakanin) at the Red Apple Restaurant. You can choose anything you want like rice cake, cassava cake, leche flan and halo-halo. Whoa! Yummy! I missed it already. Well, there’s still tomorrow. Sigh!

I just watched a video of Celine Dion and Charice Pempengco singing together at Madison Square Garden. Charice Pempengco is a 16-year-old Filipina girl known for her extra-ordinary voice. Charice first attracted attention in the cyber world when FalseVoice channel of YouTube posted her little big star performance of Whitney Houston hit, “ I will always love you.” I’ve seen her featured at Oprah Show last month. Many viewers never thought that such little girl got a talent and a voice. I have goose bumps every time I listened to her songs. She really got a nice voice. Amazing! I’m very proud of her being a Filipina myself. She now achieved all her dreams. I believe that she will be more successful of her career. As what Celine Dion said that she got what it takes to be a successful singer. Keep it up Charice! We’re very proud of you.

Sally was only eight years old when she heard Mommy and Daddy talking about her little brother, Georgi. He was very sick and they had done everything they could afford to save his life. Only a very expensive surgery could help him now . . . and that was out of the financial question. She heard Daddy say it with a whispered desperation, "Only a miracle can save him now." Sally went to her bedroom and pulled her piggy bank from its hiding place in the closet.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her attention. . . but he was too busy talking to another man to be bothered by an eight-year-old. Sally twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. She cleared her throat. No good. Finally she took a quarter from its hiding place and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
"And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice.
"Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Sally answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's sick . . . and I want to buy a miracle."
"I beg your pardon," said the pharmacist.
"My Daddy says only a miracle can save him now . . . so how much does a miracle cost?"
"We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I can't help you."
"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. Just tell me how much it costs."
The well-dressed man stooped down and asked, "What kind of a miracle does you brother need?"
"I don't know," Sally answered. A tear started down her cheek. "I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my folks can't pay for it . . . so I have my money.
"How much do you have?" asked the well-dressed man.
"A dollar and eleven cents," Sally answered proudly. "And it's all the money I have in the world."
"Well, what a coincidence," smiled the well-dressed man. A dollar and eleven cents . . . the exact price of a miracle to save a little brother. He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents."
That well-dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, renowned surgeon, specializing in solving Georgi's malady. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn't long until Georgi was home again and doing well. Mommy and Daddy were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.
"That surgery," Mommy whispered. "It's like a miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?
Sally smiled to herself. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost... one dollar and eleven cents... plus the faith of a little child.

Guys, I just watched another episode of The Sproutwells family video. I was laughing by myself when I finished watching it. I just recall one of my friends whom I can describe as crazy soccer mom. Well, I can’t blame her to be so excited like that. She was just a typical mother who is very proud of her child. If I was in her shoes I probably yell and scream for my kids too. I don’t care what other people might say. As long as I never hurt other people and mind on their own business then everything would be fine. You Are Destined to Struggle With Your Weight
Like most people, you find it a little difficult to stay at weight you're comfortable with.
If you change a few habits and make food less important, you may find the struggle hardly exists anymore.
Would you believe that I haven’t eaten nectarine fruit in my life? Yeah, you heard it right. I was a little bit curious about this type of fruit. I want to know what it taste like. Luckily, we went to the market today and purchase some fruits and vegetables. I bought different kinds of fruits such as mango, nectarine, grapes, durian and apple. I need to start filling myself with fruits and vegetables. It’s good for my health especially now that I was targetting to lose 10 lbs for the next month. I hope I’ll succeed to my weight goal. Anyway, I just eat one piece of nectarine and it was yummy. I found out that nectarine is a cultivar group of peach that has smooth, fuzz less skin. They belong to the same species as peaches. No wonder it taste like a peach too. However, nectarines are slightly smaller and sweeter than peaches, but with much overlap. The history of the nectarine is unclear; the first recorded mention in English is from 1616, but they had probably been grown much earlier within the native range of the Peach in central and eastern Asia.

I learned...to just release and let go, and not think too much about it. In other words, open up your heart, open up your soul, open up my spirit, and let God use you, as opposed to trying to control it with my head and with my heart.

I got an email from my best friend today. She sends me some pictures of her and my family. You probably asked me who were dancing in the picture. Well, that’s my mom and dad. This picture was taken during my niece first birthday party. Aren’t they looked so happy? Yeah, they enjoyed each other’s company. I’m proud to tell you that they’ve been together for almost 31 years. There were times that they almost get separated because of trials and temptations. But luckily, they were able to get through to it. Though, I’m not quite sure what future holds to both of them but one thing is for sure- they love each other. And, that’s the most important part of their marriage. That’s the reason they are still together until now. All I pray to God is to give them good health and happiness. God knows how much I missed my family especially both of you- dad and mom. I know that they can’t read this post I got today. But, at least I can express my feelings here. It’s really hard to be away from your family. Sometimes, it’s killing me. I really do wish that I can afford the expenses for back and forth ticket but sad to say I can’t. Well, all I can do for now is to call and chat them. Lol!
