Natural Defenses Against Cold!

Did you know that Echinacea could help keep winter colds and flu away? Yeah, you heard it right. Same as herbs and nutrients, it can also bring relief and restore our defenses. Native Americans have used Echinacea for centuries; it increases levels of the natural compound, properdin, which activates the immune system against viruses and bacteria. Garlic and onion has the same antibacterial properties that can help fight infection. Fresh boiled ginger root, ingested as tea, helps relive pain, acts as an antiseptic and helps soothe a sore throat, especially when combine with honey. According to Wikipedia, A 2007 study from the University of Connecticut combined findings from 14 previously reported trials examining Echinacea and concluded that Echinacea can cut your chances of catching a cold by more than half and shorten the duration of cold by an average of 1.4 days. Imagine that? It’s pretty cool. Huh! I might as well look for these plants to prevent getting flu or cold especially this winter season. However, you should remember what the doctor says, “ Prevention is better than cure”.
